Poison Oak Exvoto
‘In the summer of 2024, in the city of Lafayette, CA., James Eddy lost his footing and tumbled head first into a dense thicket of poison oak. Embarrassed, and feeling like a total jackass in that moment, James’ wounded ego was the least of his problems. The following day a blistering red skin rash spread faster than a five alarm fire, his nether region unspared. Several days thereafter, when his symptoms became unbearable and home remedies offered little relief, James invoked Saint Bartholomew the Apostle, the patron saint of skin diseases and dermatology, for assistance. He knew his prayers had been heard when the fiery red rash suddenly waned and the inflamation began to abate. James rendered this exvoto in commemoration of his miraculous recovery on this second day of June in the year of our lord, 2024.’
Dimensions: 32 inches x 26 inches. June 2024.
