This rare 18th century Spanish colonial oil on heavy gauge copper painting represents Santa Barbara, patroness saint of fire, gunners, masons, miners, storms and for protection against lightening strikes. Santa Barbara was beheaded by her father in 235 A.D. who was in turn, struck by a bolt of fire from heaven. Mexico. Circa 1750.
