This 18th century Spanish colonial oil on copper painting represents Santa Barbara. Santa Barbara, patroness saint of fire, against lightening, gunners, masons, miners and storms, was beheaded by her father in 235 A.D. who was in turn was struck by a bolt of fire from heaven.
