This 19th century Mexican folk retablo, illustrated on page 30 in 'Saints and Sinners' by James Caswell and Jenise Amanda Ramos, represents 'El Transito de Maria'. El Tránsito de María refers to the death and bodily assumption of the Virgin Mary into heaven, an event that is also celebrated as the Feast of the Assumption.

Attributed to the 'Master of the Saucito', one of Mexico's most revered retablo painters.
