Saint Isidore - Dyslexic Painter

This large and impressive 19th century Mexican folk retablo represents San Ysidro Labrador, the patron Saint of Farmers. San Ysidro Labrador (Saint Isidore the Laborer) is invoked for agricultural issues, good weather (before picnics) and prosperous crop. He is usually shown working the fields together with a diminutive angel and cattle in the foreground. 

Displayed in a punched tin nicho frame

Attributed to the 'Dyslexic Painter', also known as the 'Bulbous Head Painter'. His unique style is unmistakable.

Dimensions: Retablo measures 20 inches vertical x 14 inches horizontal. Nicho frame measures 34 inches vertical x 20 inches horizontal.
